Course Families¶
Summary¶
- Course families = a group of courses that teach similar skills at different levels (e.g., beginning to advanced painting).
- You can only take 4 total courses per family (or 6 in quarters).
- It does not matter if you fail, pass, or withdraw — they all count toward the limit.
- Some courses can be repeatable by regulation (e.g., for transfer), but the total still cannot exceed 4 in the family.
- Districts must justify the distinction between courses with clear differences in student learning outcomes.
- This rule exists to promote fairness and limit course hoarding.
